Topic: Sybar, a motion analyis system for rehabilitation medicine.
My PhD project consisted of the design and implementation of Sybar, a multi-media system to aid rehabilitation physicians in their diagnosis of patients. Sybar was developed using an object oriented design method (OMT) and C++. The project was covered by national television (Twee Vandaag) and Automatiserings Gids. Sybar is still in use at the VU Medisch Centrum and has been commercialized by Noldus Information Technology.

Team lead of the Markit Distribution Platform (MDP) Core Services team. Markit MDP a high performance backend for streaming financial data. The project involves a complete redesign of an existing system. I am responsible for the design and have been involved in building up a new team of 9 developers for which I am team lead. The resulting technology is being used throughout the company.

OptimalJ Feather (2005-2007)
This research project involves the development of a light weight web solution for OptimalJ. I have done all design and implementation and gained experience in the many aspects and technologies involved with building rich web applications.
OptimalAdvisor (2003 - 2004)
OptimalAdvisor is the successor to Pasta. The first release was delivered in December 2003. My role was lead developer/architect. At its peak the project team consisted of about 15 people divided over three geographical locations and time zones. OptimalAdvisor functionality is available as part of Microfocus DevPartner Java Edition
The Package Structure Analysis Tool (Pasta) is a code visualization, analysis and refactoring tool for Java programs. I have taken care of all aspects of product development including competitive analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance, user documentation and support. Pasta was included as a component in OptimalJ releases 2.1, 3.0 and 3.1.
OptimalJ (1999 - 2004)
OptimalJ is a tool for model-driven development of J2EE applications. I have been involved in various aspects, including design, development, and sales presentations.
OptimalFlow (now called Uniface Flow) is a workflow tool written in Uniface. I was responsible for competitive analysis and design and specification documentation.
Uniface is 4GL development tool which is over 20 years old. I have been involved as a developer of a component to visualize graphs. This project was the first use of the Java language in the Uniface product.
